I came to know Sankar Basu through the writing of his loving son, Rintu. Photos of Sankar showed a kind and handsome face. (Except of course, the photos of Sankar sitting with a blanket over his head.) Sankar came across as a kind soul, a gently-speaking gentleman. A real character, with a twinkle in his eye and a wry sense of humour. A quick-witted and intelligent man who could think around corners. A loving and loyal husband, father, and friend. If we'd had a conversation, I suspect I'd have been delighted, perplexed, and inspired. He made me think. Most of all, I know that Sankar Basu was deeply loving and deeply loved. I miss him.
